Shahid Mahmood grew up in Pakistan. He started drawing for the Star, Karachi's evening newspaper at the age of fifteen. He went on to become the editorial cartoonist for both the national newspaper, Dawn, and newsmagazine, Newsline. A style described by editors as "irreverent and dark" his work has appeared in numerous Pakistani, North American, and International publications including the South-Asian web-zine, Chowk. His work was viewed by world leaders at the 1997 APEC Conference, enjoyed by John F. Kennedy Jr., and manages to continuously enrage Benazir Bhutto. Shahid Mahmoodıs cartoons are exhibited by Amnesty International. | |
