OLIVER Schopf

Born in Kitzbuehel, Austria, in 1960, Oliver Schopf has not become a Herminator
on white snow, but a Drawminator on white paper. After studies in Vienna at the Academy
of Fine Arts he started as a free-lancer cartoonist for several national and international
newspapers, magazins and satirical magazins. In 1988 he joined the new-founded Austrian
daily news-paper Der Standard as an editorial cartoonist and since then he is.Besides his
political cartoons his live-drawn(!!) reports from major trials in Austria became very famous
as well as his psychological portraits. His work is syndically represented by the Cartoonists
and Writers Syndicate, New York and appears in the main newspapers all over the world.
As an illustrator he contributed to several books concerning sports, history and economy.
Now he works on a new edition for children of Cervantes' Don Quixote, which will be
published in fall 1999.
He has taken part in uncountable exhibitions all over the world and has got several honorable
mentions. Oliver Schopf lives in Vienna, Austria.
