Kevin "Kal" Kallaugher, a Visual Studies major at Harvard, became the first resident cartoonist in the 145-year history of London's The Economist in 1978. Kal was named Feature Cartoonist of the Year by the Cartoonist Club in Great Britain. His published work includes Drawn From the Economist (1988), KALtoons (1992) and Kal Draws a Crowd (1998), representing his work for the Baltimore Sun. Besides Kal's work at the Sun as a daily political cartoonist, he continues as cartoonist for both The Economist and The International Herald Tribune (Paris). Kal's honors include First Prize at the 1990 Budapest International Cartoon Festival and the 1996 Italian satire festival Graffico Internazionale. Kal is past president of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists and his work is syndicated to over 100 major newspapers throughout the world. | |
