Jurg Spahr (Jusp) was born in 1925 in Sicily, the son of Swiss parents. Jusp moved to Switzerland in 1939 where he attended law school. His cartoons have appeared in Nebelspalter since 1943 as well as in other weekly and daily journals throughout Europe. From 1970-83 he ran a commercial art studio. In 1978 he became curator of the Collection of Caricatures and Cartoons for the Karikatur & Cartoons Museum Basel, which he helped to found. Among his prizes are the Cartoons for Peace Award, Palma d'Oro, Bordighera, Italy, and the Gold Medal VSSJ, Switzerland. Jusp's humor cartoons are syndicated internationally in "Wit of the World." | |
