Zoran Jovanovic, born in Novi Sad in 1938, has been a graphic artist and
film director since 1956. Jovanovic has made several award-winning
animated and short films, including First Prizes at the 1984 Oberhausen
Festival, for Marxians, and 1988 Montreal Festival, for Bomb.
Retrospectives of his films have been presented at the Museum of Modern
Art in New York and Cinemateque in Paris. He received a Fulbright
Scholarship in 1984 and was named Distinguished International Cartoonist
by the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists in 1983. He has been a
visiting lecturer at Harvard and School of Visual Arts, New York. Awards
include Grand Prizes at cartoon festivals in Bordighera, Italy (1967), in
Marostica, Italy (1970), and Knokke-Heist, Belgium (1971). Jovanovic's
graphic art has been published in The New York Times since 1981 and
syndicated internationally in the CWS feature, "Symbolics."
