Cheng Fang was born in Beijing in 1918. After graduating from Wuhan University with a degree in Chemistry, he was a cartoon editor at the Observer magazine in Shanghai, a freelance cartoonist in Hong Kong, the Art Editor at the Xinman Daily, Senior Art Editor at People's Daily, and, beginning in 1984, Honorary Professor in the Journalism department at Wuhan University. He has had many books of his cartoons published and has had one-man shows in more than a dozen major cities, including Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. | |
