The son of a farmer, Gustave Ewk Karlsson went to agricultural school and worked for ten years as overseer on a farm before becoming a full-time cartoonist in 1951. Ewk¹s work has been seen in virtually every journal in Sweden and a Ewk museum was opened in southern Sweden. He has illustrated more than 50 books, eleven of them his own. Twice awarded first prize as well as named Cartoonist of the Year at the International Pavillion of Humor in Montreal, Ewk was also recipient of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists International Cartoonist Award in 1987. | |
